1) The invasive ladybird Harmonia axyridis was introduced to Spain in 1995 but did not establish until recently. This study reports the first evidence of an overwintering aggregation in Spain.
2) The aggregation was monitored from autumn to spring and characterized based on morphology, sex ratio, and phenology. Most individuals were the succinea form.
3) Sampling across Catalonia found H. axyridis restricted to this region currently, but spreading is ongoing. The invasion likely originated from southern France. The potential impact on native species in Spain is discussed.
