§ Probe sends SNMP GET queries to specified NetApp devices
– Probe then transforms the query results into alarms and quality of service messages
for service level agreement
– NetApp probe uses a set of predefined SNMP OID templates available on most
NetApp devices
– A profile can be configured to integrate the NetApp device into the CA UIM
monitoring solution
§ NetApp filer or NetApp fabric-attached storage (FAS) is a type of disk
storage device; this device owns and controls filesystems, directories, and
files present over the network
§ NetApp filer uses the Data ONTAP operating system (based on FreeBSD)

§ Probe can be configured for NetApp Ontap 7.2x to 8.1 c-mode and 7-mode
operating system

processed every second and the latency of the storage system

Monitoring IBM Storage with CA UIM
§ IBM Disk Storage System 8000 Series Monitoring (ibm_ds_next) probe
monitors IBM DS8xxx storage systems; phe probe uses an SMI-S interface
to communicate with the IBM DS storage system
§ The probe can monitor the following components:

– Ports
– Ranks
– Volumes

§ Probe monitors IBM DS3xxx, IBM DS4xxx, and IBM DS5xxx storage arrays
