Taxes have always been a contentious subject in any political discourse. Tax rates,
methods of taxation, and other such details are constantly debated and reshaped in
order to generate the most revenue and best serve the public. It is the responsibility
of the government to pass fair taxes on its citizens that provide optimum efficiency
as well as tangible benefits to the welfare of its citizens. One crucial reform to
taxation that is being proposed is the Land Value Tax
(LVT) which will have
compounding benefits to the country it is implemented in. A LVT is a tax levied
on the unimproved value of land as opposed to property taxes which take into
account the value of the property on the land itself. The idea of LVT originated all
the way back to the 18th century and it has seen successful modern application in
countries like Australia, Hong Kong and Estonia and even the U.S. state
Pennsylvania. Land Value Tax must be implemented in the United States because
