- 2. DIFFER FROM PREJUDICE IN THAT IT CAN HAVE POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE CONNOTATION People tend to have a prejudice to a group of people without a deep research on it STEREOTYPES A GENERAL BELIEF TO A GROUP OF PEOPLE
- 3. 3 IN THE SCENCE: Dean’ friends are having a stereotype that being a doctor is a good job and started to dream to be a doctor without considering doctor is actually a tough job.
- 4. SOCIAL INFLUENCES THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR IDENTITY IS CONNECTED TO PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS INDIVIDUALISTIC CULTURES Focus on independence over collective goals. “Make yourself stands out from the crowd”.
- 5. 5 IN THE SCENCE: Dean heard from his friends that who are going to take medical course for their degree that being a doctor can make more money and will be respected by the others
- 6. COMFIRMATION BIAS ATTEND TO THE INFORMATION THAT SUPPORT OUR BELIEFS DESREGARDING INFORMATION WHICH CONFLICTS WITH OUR BELIEFS People tend to ignore what has conflict their self-concept and more likely to listen to the information which reinforced their beliefs
- 7. 7 IN THE SCENCE: Dean ignore Dr. Teh’s advice which being a doctor is not as easy as he thinks and it is actually a tough occupation. He is more likely to listen to Dr. Wade’s comments which supported his belief.
- 8. 8 BIRGING BASKING IN REFLECTED GLORY FEELING SUCCESSFUL THROUGH THE SUCCESSES OF ONE’S CIRCLE AND ENHANCING THE SELF-ESTEEM JUST BY BEING IN THIS GROUP.
- 9. 9 IN THE SCENCE: Dean’s mum feels good and extraordinary with Dean who is studying medicine and he will be a doctor in the future . His mother is very proud of him because doctor is really a good occupation which will be respected by the others. Therefore, his mother started to spread the news to all of her friends and basking in the glory of his son who is going to be a doctor after he is graduated.
- 10. LESS EFFORT CONTRIBUTED WHEN IN A GROUP People tend to contribute less effort when they are in a group as the responsible to do a task is separated SOCIAL LOAFING INDIVIDUAL’S PERFORMANCE GETS WORSE I THE PRESENCE OF THERS
- 11. 11 IN THE SCENCE: Dean starts to slack in the group discussion as he realize that his group mates will actually finish up the task for him as well.
- 12. MY LIFE WILL BE PERFECT People tend to feel that they are more likely to experience the positive events in their life OPTIMISTIC BIAS BELIEVING THAT BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO OTHER PEOPLE
- 13. 13 IN THE SCENCE: Dean feels that even he is not taking part in the group meeting, his group mates will always finish up his part of work for him
- 14. OTHER PERSONS SHARE THE RESPONSIBILITY People tend to not take actions to help to finish up a group work when others are not helping also DIFFUSION OF RESPONSIBILITY INDIVIDUAL’S DOES NOT TAKE ACTIONS TO HELP
- 15. 15 IN THE SCENCE: Dean’s group mates getting tired of finish up his task and finally not helping him for his part.
