The Rajuk Uttara Apartment Project, initiated in 2010, encompasses 240 buildings over 214.44 acres to provide affordable housing for low and middle-income groups in Dhaka, with a total of 20,160 flats and an expected density of 80,000 residents. Construction of Block A, consisting of 79 buildings, is largely complete with 6,636 flats being allocated; however, Blocks B and C face delays due to a lack of cooperation from the Malaysian government. The project aims to address housing shortages while enhancing local infrastructure and amenities, including schools, parks, and essential services, although challenges remain in waste management and community facilities.
