 Information and Communication Technology
(ICT) has played a tremendous role in
bringing change to the Society and likewise it
also reached to the tribal communities too. In
India there are more than 600 tribal
communities. One of the largest tribe is
Gonds. This district has Nine Tribes namely
Lambadas; Naikpods; Andhs; Koya; Manne;
Pradhan; Thoti and Andh.
 To Study Impact of ICT in Tribal Transformation
Methodology
 We used secondary source data
 Personal observation
 Maddur is a Mandal in Mahbubnagar
district, Telangana.
 Maddur is located at 16.8667°N 77.6167°E. It
has an average elevation of 503 metres
(1653 ft).
 Geographical area
 Pallerala:3564
 Kajipuram:1276
Location of Study Area
 Lambada :

inhabiting through the Telangana State. They are also
known as Banjara. Their population according to

 Komaram Bheem memorial
 In memory of the brave Gond tribal leader
who fought against the Nizams under the
slogan “Jal, Jameen, Jungal” the Govt.
sanctioned construction of Komram Bheem
Smriti Chihanam and also development of
Jodeghat village as Tribal Cultural Hub and
Tourism Center, at an outlay of Rs.50.00
Crores.
 Educational Institutions
 The major program under the Department is
maintenance of Educational Institutions.
During 2015-16, Rs.138.92 Cr. is allocated
under state plan while Rs.271.49 Cr. is
allocated under non plan budget for
expenditure under this scheme
 Economic Development
 The economic development programs include
staff cost of ITDAs, and Grants-in-Aidunder
State Plan as well as Special Central
Assistance for developmental activities.The
staff programs include administrative
management of certain office staff of ITDAs,
Agricultural demonstration units, HNTCs in
the ITDAs and monitoring units in the ITDAs.
 There are (2) PSUs functioning under the
control of Tribal Welfare Department.During
2015-16 Rs. 26.62 Cr. is proposed for
financial assistance to PSUs under Non
Plan.Their activities are explained briefly
hereunder :
 Girijan Co-operative Corporation (GCC)
 The Telangana Scheduled Tribes Cooperative
Finance Corporation Limited,Hyderabad
 Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
should be used to support and encourage cultural
diversity and to preserve and promote the language,
distinct identities and traditional knowledge of
Indigenous peoples, nations and tribes in a manner
which they determine best advances these goals.
 The evolution of the information and communication
societies must be founded on the respect and
promotion of the rights of Indigenous peoples,
nations and tribes and our distinctive and diverse
cultures, as outlined in international conventions. We
have fundamental and collective rights to protect,
preserve and strengthen our own languages, cultures
and identities.
 South Africa has attempted to establish
Learning Centres intended to empower
indigenous peoples by helping them take
advantage of the multiple potentials and
capacities of ICTs. A series of observers have
noted, however, that these Centres repeatedly
fail – in part, because of basic cultural
conflicts.
 In this schema, contemporary societies such
as the United States, the United Kingdom, and
the Germanic countries show a preference for
literate (i.e., textual), high content (but low
context) information transfer – while societies
such as Arabic cultures, indigenous peoples,
and many Asian cultures prefer instead more
oral, low content (but high context) modes of
communication.
