The organization seeks to advance the lives of children who are in the United States as well as in other nations throughout the globe. The organization was recognized in the year 1919. The organization has its headquarters in
- 2. Fairfield, Connecticut. The organization seeks to ensure children are taken care of even in war-torn countries. The organization seeks to give children a healthy start, a chance to learn and protect them from harm. This move ensures the organization has reduced the cases of death and fatalities. The organization has undertaken several strategic plans. The mission of the organization is to invest in children every day either in times of crisis and even for the future. The organization seeks to give children in the United States and even in the world a healthy start in life, give them a chance to get an education and defend them from danger. The organization has set some Short Term Goals that will ensure that the children of the world are safe. The current world has been unstable and characterized chaos and wars. In this kind of setting, children and women are the people who greatly suffer because they do not have experience in combat. These wars result in too many fatalities that could have been avoided. The organization is looking forward toward ensuring that the children have received an education. The organization is planning on using some of the financings it has received from the donor countries and the US to build learning institutions in the affected countries. The move is also aimed at ensuring that they have gotten access to highly qualified teachers (Johnson, 2014). The Long Term Goals of the organization is making it possible for all children around the globe more so in the war-torn countries and the developing countries to have access to education. The Long Term Goals also focus on contributing to the success of the developing countries through providing formal education to the children. The other long term goal is that they have been ensuring that the children have access to well-equipped health facilities. The Save, the Children USA, wishes to expand their services to even getting access to the kitty that will finance the development of infrastructure and social amenities in collaboration with the US and the countries in the developing countries.
- 3. The short-term goal of the organization is to ensure that child health care in the earliest years including the antenatal period before birth is well catered. The challenge of achieving this goal is that pregnant women do not usually come out, and it becomes difficult to ensure child health care is correct as it is hard to track them in their homes. This challenge can be overcome by providing education to villages and advocating pregnant women to visit health centers for a checkup. The other short-term goal of the organization is to ensure preventable diseases like malaria are controlled completely such that no child would die from it. Most families are poor and cannot afford mosquito nets, therefore, promoting malaria and other diseases. The organization can overcome this challenge by giving free mosquito nets. The Short Term Goals also include ensuring that every child is immunized, treated from various diseases such as diarrhea, respiratory diseases, and many others. The challenge of achieving this goal is that there are few hospitals especially in developing countries, and they do not always have medicines. The organization can overcome this challenge by providing medical care in such areas (Healy, 2010). The Long Term Goals of the organization are eradicated child poverty; ensure that children access basic education and gender equality and protecting vulnerable children in the society. Economic trends such as a low economic performance of a country can worsen child poverty situation. Political trends especially where these countries face unfavorable political environments of chaos and fight it becomes hard for an organization to penetrate such areas. It is important for the organization to define its Short Term and Long Term Goals since they help an organization organize resources, skilled personnel, and other issues that help achieve these goals. Organizational goals need resources so as to define those including skilled people, money, time, the mission vision of the company and many others. According to Espy (2011), the mid-term goals of the
- 4. organization in the next four to fifteen years to come are that the organization will be focusing on protecting more children as possible. Additionally, child protection entails making sure that all children are capable of obtaining all forms of nourishment and care that they require. This goal is expected to be delivered in the mid-term by incorporating different agencies to perform the roles of making sure that the children are properly protected and on the right state. Save the Children USA serve to guarantee that underserved kids prepared to succeed when they start school, appreciate scholastic and individual accomplishment in school, are solid and dynamic in learning and life, and are sheltered and ensured when debacle strikes. Programming incorporates early center adolescence, education, wellbeing and crisis readiness and catastrophes reaction in 20 states and the District of Columbia. Child development programs ensure that all the children in all regions have undergone through the growth and development stages just like any other child in regions that are not characterized by wars. The approval of the boards of directors makes sure that there is enough financing to cater for the training of the children’s tutors as well as other people who have been employed to take care of the children. The other section that is of much interest to me is the provision of the emergency response to the children. Children go through a lot of problems ranging from the abuse at homes, streets, and other social congregations. As a matter of fact, children are the people who are mostly affected by domestic violence because they have not developed enough to bear such weight. Therefore, as one of the stakeholders, I make sure that these children do not have to suffer from such humiliation. I make sure that the program has provided a hotline where the children regardless of their age can call to make known their problems. The problems are therefore forwarded to the board where they are effectively addressed and aid given to the characters that are in dire need of it. Taking care of the children is the core objectives of the organization and there is need for the stakeholders to approve of all the uses of the money that have been suggested. This move is aimed at increasing transparency as well as the accountability towards the children who are currently suffering. The other issue that is on top is the issue of health and nutrition that is directed towards the children. Children who are from families that are not financially fit undergo such problems and they are not taken lightly they are to be taken care of immediately. This move ensures that the management approves
- 6. the running of the programs faster. The role that I am playing within the organization is crucial and will affect the manner through which various strategies are made within the organization. The strategic planning within the organization is conducted by people who are highly qualified and focused guarantee that they are well-educated before making such moves. Having access to the right knowledge is one of the basic skills that all the members are aware of and they should focus on the core goals of the organization. The major goals that are under the watch of our organization is ensuring that all the children have been taken care of regardless of the background and the financial situation of the families (Beekun, 2012). The strategies of the organization are conducted collectively and all the members have to approve all the decisions that are made. Therefore, in the contemporary past, there has been an increase in transparency within the organization thus making it too difficult for the organization to make decision without approval. The organization has been conducting strategic planning in a manner that is acceptable to all people. Further, there are no pending legal implications that might result from the revision of the strategic planning from the organization. The current strategic plan that is being used by the organization is one of the best and it is aimed at ensuring that all the issues within the organization have undergone a thorough scrutiny before approval and action. The strategic planners are professional and have experience in the activities they are undertaking. I would recommend three strategic goals for Save the Children USA including child protection, health and nutrition, and hunger and livelihoods goals. These goals will help change the social lives of children as well as the communities at large. Child protection is a program that should aim at protecting children from danger including abuse, exploitation, violence as well as neglect. It is a common happening to hear that a child is being abused by the way they are treated by their own family
- 7. members as well as their guardians. These trends are shocking to see that these child abusers are against the development of America as well as the rest of the world. Save the Children is an organization that is dedicated to achieving this goal and therefore increasing efforts would ensure that children live, play and interact in a peaceful location without their parents having to keep worrying about them. The organization should be there in cases of emergencies to ensure that critical services are given to the needy. I also recommend that the organization focus on the goal of health and nutrition which has affected many children worldwide. Children cannot provide for themselves and therefore depend on the adult people to provide for them. Most children cannot provide health care as well as food to themselves. This strategic goal would ensure that the company improves the nutrition of mother as well as children. A distinctive consideration should be given to the poor as well as those that are vulnerable in the society. The organization needs to collaborate with other like-minded organizations to ensure that children’s healthcare quality as improved and is brought to those who are not near to these services since they live in disadvantaged communities. I would also recommend that Save the Children implement the hunger and livelihood strategic goal. If implemented the program would increase von food supply so that every child or household gets something to feed on a daily basis. It should also focus on improving farming practices that would improve the quality and quantity of food. It should also make an arrangement to offer financial assistance to those who are need. The organization also needs to offer food to families to whom an emergency has occurred. It also has a responsibility of educating parents on the need for providing food to children that are of a good diet to avoid malnutrition. The organization should be there to educate small scale farmers on how they would grow crops and animals that can survive in case of drought of any other emergencies. The organization should be
- 8. there to teach families about the most nutritious foods to ensure that feed in a healthy manner.
