Search engine optimization
SEO stands for ā€œsearch engine optimization.ā€ In simple terms,
SEO means the process of improving your website to
increase its visibility in Google, Microsoft Bing, and other
search engines whenever people search for: Products you
sell.
the action of making the best or most effective
use of a situation or resource.
Top five Algorithm used in SEO
• GOOGLE PANDA. The Panda algorithm (named after one of its engineers)
made its arrival in the 2011 beginning. ...
• GOOGLE PENGUIN. The Penguin was released in the year 2012. ...
• GOOGLE HUMMINGBIRD. ...
• GOOGLE PIGEON. ...
• GOOGLE'S MOBILE UPDATE (Mobilegeddon)
Three steps to follow algorithm
1:White Hat techniques
2:Black Hat Techniques
3:Gray Hat Techniques
White Hat Techniques
1. Optimizing webpages for certain keywords.
2. Creating high-quality content.
3. Improving the speed of a website.
4. Using descriptive meta tags.
5. Improving site navigation.
6. Making a website easier to use on mobile devices.
7. Developing an internal linking strategy.
Black Hat techniques
Black hat SEO is a practice against search engine
guidelines, used to get a site ranking higher in search
results. These unethical tactics don't solve for the
searcher and often end in a penalty from search engines.
Black hat techniques include
keyword stuffing,
cloaking,
and using private link networks.
Grey Hat Techniques
• Gray hat SEO is the combination of SEO methods that
go along with Google Webmaster Guidelines (white
hat SEO) and those that violate them (black hat
methods). For example, creating quality content
(white hat) and buying backlinks to it (black hat).
Three Types of SEO
• On page SEO
• Off-Page SEO
• Technical SEO
On-Page SEO
On-page SEO (also known as on-site SEO) refers to the practice of optimizing webpages to improve a
website's search engine rankings and earn organic traffic. In addition to publishing relevant, high-quality
content, on-page SEO includes
optimizing your headlines,
HTML tags (title, meta, and header),
and images.
Check List Of ON-Page SEO
• URL Optimization
• Title Tag
• Meta description
• Heading Tag
• Internal linking
• External linking
• Anchor Tax optimization
• Keywords Density
• Plagiarism
• Grammar
• Spamming
• Keywords stuffing
• Keywords proximity
• Keywords prominence
• Keywords cannibalization
URL Optimization
• SEO friendly URLs are URLs that are
designed to meet the needs of users and
searchers. Specifically, URLs optimized
for SEO tend to be short and keyword-
rich.
• URLs must be readable by everyone
• Organize your content
• Do not use capital
• Prefer hyphens to underscores
• Add your mobile URLs to a sitemap
• Include your target keyword
The practice of optimizing your URLs
according to search engine
optimization best practices.
• URL without Slug www.landmark.com
• URL With Slug www.landmark.com/property-dealers
Title Tag/ Title Optimization
• Optimizing your title tags is one of the
easiest ways to help improve your
rankings on Google. They signal to Google
what your page is about
• it affects how Google's
algorithms understand your
content and rank your page.
Meta Description
• A meta description tag generally
informs and interests users with a
short, relevant summary of what
a particular page is about.
Keywords Density
Tools for checking
• Keyword density tells you how often a
search term appears in a text in relation
to the total number of words it
contains. For example: if a keyword
appears three times in a 100 word text
the keyword density would be 3%.

• http://tools.seobook.com
Keywords Stuffing
•
Keyword stuffing is when you use the same keywords (or phrases) over and
over again in your website's content. It is usually easy to notice and will put
readers .
• In SEO we will not use keywords again & again in Meta Titles, Meta
discerption.
keyword stuffing also called:
• Keyword stuffing is a search engine optimization (SEO) technique,
considered webspam or spamdexing, in which keywords are loaded into a
web page's meta tags, visible content, or backlink anchor text in an attempt
to gain an unfair rank advantage in search engines.
Keywords spamming
Keyword spamming, which is sometimes referred to as keyword stuffing, is the method of
overloading a piece of content with keywords and phrases in an attempt to get the content to
rank higher on search engine results pages.
What is keyword spamming example?
A short example might read, ā€œIf you're looking for an affordable roof repair, check out our
affordable roof repair services. Our roof repair experts are trained to provide quality roof
repairs.ā€ Keywords and phrases can also be added to a piece of content inappropriately.
Keywords cannibalism
• Keyword cannibalization occurs when you have too many identical or similar
keywords spread throughout the content on your website. As a result, a
search engine like Google can't discern which content to rank higher. This
means that sometimes it will give a higher ranking to the web page you don't
mean to prioritize.
For Example
Keywords proximity
• The keyword proximity refers to the distance between
the search term's individual keywords.
• For example:
• Digital marketing course in Dehli.
• Lean digital marketing course from one of the leading
training institute in the Dehli.
Keywords prominence
• Keyword prominence is an SEO best practice that involves using a
page's target keyword early in order to send a strong signal
to Google about what the page should rank for.
• Keyword prominence refers to how prominent your keywords are
within key elements of your web page. Specifically, how close to
the beginning of the page’s TITLE tag, heading tags (H1, H2, H3,
etc.), and meta DESCRIPTION, your keyword phrase is placed. You
should always put your most important keyword phrase at the very
beginning of your TITLE, DESCRIPTION, and H1 and H2 tags. Also
try to begin your first and last sentences of body copy with the
important keyword phrases.
Plagiarism
• the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas
and passing them off as one's own.
• Plagiarism is presenting work or ideas from
another source as your own, with or without
consent of the original author, by incorporating it
into your work without full acknowledgment.
Check the Grammar of
content
• https://www.grammarcheck.net/
• https://smallseotools.com/
• If your blog, article, or webpage has a lot of
grammatical errors, especially when discussing
your target keywords, it's more difficult for bots
and crawlers to understand what your page is
about. If Google can't figure out what you're
talking about in your content, it won't rank for
the right keywords
Heading Tags or Header Tags
• Header tags, also known as heading tags,
are used to separate headings and subheadings
on a webpage. They rank in order of
importance, from H1 to H6, with H1s usually
being the title. Header tags improve the
readability and SEO of a webpage.
• There will be one H1 for one webpage.
• In the source code, we can check headings <H1
Internal Linking or External Linking
Internal Linking
• An internal link is any link from one page on
your website to another page on your website
• . Both your users and search engines use links
to find content on your website.
• Your users use links to navigate through your
site and to find the content they want to find.
External Linking
• In SEO terms, the term 'external link' usually
refers to links that are built on other sites and
point back to your domain.
• These 'external links' or backlinks are
measured for volume, quality, and relevancy in
consideration of how they support the ranking
of your page.
Anchor text
Optimization
• The simplest way to optimize anchor text for SEO is simply to make sure the
anchor text uses descriptive keywords to accurately describe the page or
idea you're linking to. But be careful! In SEO, it's easy to "over-optimize" your
anchor text by over-relying on repetitive, keyword-rich phrases.
Technical SEO
• Site map XML
• Site map HYML
• Alt Text/ Att
• Compression
• Page Loading Time
• Optimization of JS & CSS
• Secure sockets layer (SSL) certification
• Canonical Tag
• Redirections (404,301,302)
• W3C Validation
• Open Graph Tag
W3C Validation
• W3C validation is the process of checking your website's code to determine
if it follows the correct formatting standards. Failure to validate your code
against these standards could mean your website suffers errors or your
traffic numbers aren't as high as they could be due to poor readability
Site Map XML
• Search engines like Google read this file to crawl your site more efficiently. A
sitemap tells Google which pages and files you think are important in your
site, and also provides valuable information about these files. For example,
when the page was last updated and any alternate language versions of the
page.
Site Map HTML
• An HTML Sitemap is a page on your website with links to every single page of
important content on your website. Any pages on your site that can be
indexed by search or are navigable from your menus should be linked to by
your sitemap page!
Alt Text/ Att
• Alt text (alternative text) describes the
appearance or function of an image on a page.
Alt text is read aloud by screen readers used by
visually impaired users, displays in place of an
image if it fails to load and is indexed by search
engine bots to better understand the content
of your page.
Compression in SEO
• Compression reduces the size of a file by up to 90% so that pages
load faster and require less data usage. This, in turn, equates to a
better user experience and higher search engine rankings.
• In WordPress we will compress all pictures with Yoast SEO
pilgrims.
Page Loading Time
• page load time is the average amount of time it takes for a page to
show up on your screen. It's calculated from initiation (when you
click on a page link or type in a Web address) to completion (when
the page is fully loaded in the browser).
Optimization JS & CSS
Optimization of JS
• Optimization is a special type of JavaScript
minification. These kinds of minimizers not
only delete unusual white spaces, commas,
comments etc. but also help to avoid ā€œdead
codeā€: Google Closure Compiler.
Optimization of CSS
• The CSS will-change property hints to browsers
how an element is expected to change.
Browsers may set up optimizations before an
element is actually changed. These kinds of
optimizations can increase the responsiveness of a
page by doing potentially expensive work before it
is actually required.
OPEN GRAPH TAG
• Open Graph is an internet protocol that was originally created
by Facebook to standardize the use of metadata within a
webpage to represent the content of a page.
Secure sockets layer (SSL) certificate
• All SSL certificate types. Easy buying process. Avoid 'Not secure' site
warnings. Boost consumer confidence. Get a trusted SSL certificate starting
at only $5.99! 24/7 Live Tech Support. 99.9% Browser Recognition. Quick
Validation. 100% Money-Back Guarantee.
Canonical tag
• A canonical tag (aka "rel canonical") is a way of telling search engines that a
specific URL represents the master copy of a page. Using the canonical
tag prevents problems caused by identical or "duplicate" content appearing
on multiple URLs.
• A canonical tag is a signal in a web page which simply says: ā€œI'm a copy of this
other web page which can be found over thereā€¦ā€
Redirection
• A redirect happens when someone
asks for a specific page but gets
sent to a different page. Often, the
site owner deleted the page and set
up a redirect to send visitors and
search engine crawlers to a relevant
page.
• There are two types of rediraction:
• 301
• 302
Rediraction 301
• 301 signals a permanent redirect from one URL to another, meaning
all users that request an old URL will be automatically sent to a new
URL. A 301 redirect passes all ranking power from the old URL to the
new URL and is most commonly used when a page has been
permanently moved or removed from a website.
• 302: A 302 redirect is a temporary redirect. The purpose of a
302 redirect is to propagate changes to a forwarding address
quickly, so traffic is moved to your new location rapidly. If
you're not sure what kind of redirect to use, we suggest using
a 302 redirect.
Redirection 302
Redirection 404
• 404 redirects are server response codes informing a user that the web
page he or she is looking for cannot be found; either due to user error
when typing the URL or the web page he or she is looking for is not an
actual web page.
