The birth of Jesus
Good tidings of great joy, which
shall be all people!
Savior, Christ the Lord!
14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a
virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name
Immanuel.
Isaiah 7:14
Isaiah 9:2, 6
2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light:
they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them
hath the light shined.
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the
government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be
called Wonderful,Counsellor,The mighty God,The everlasting
Father,The Prince of Peace.
A Savior for you
The Lamb of God
The Promised Messiah!
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet
we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for
our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and
with his stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one
to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us
all.
7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his
mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep
before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
Isaiah 53:4-11
8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall
declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the
living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his
death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit
in his mouth.
10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief:
when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his
seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of
the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by
his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he
shall bear their iniquities.
Fulfill the Prophecy
The good news from 2000 years ago
Written in 700+ years ago
Those prophecy about Messiah were written at around 700 BC.
(Before the time Jesus came)
4 BC Jesus was born. It is in the age of Rome Empire. He started
his ministry at 30 years of age (About 30 AD),. He healed the sick;
He comforted the sad. He opened blinded eyes. He taught the
people many things. We read about this in the Bible.
He allowed wicked men to nail Him to a cross. He suffered pain
and rejection as He gave His life and shed His blood as a sacrifice
for the sins of the whole world.
Written in 700+ years ago (cont’)
Jesus is the lamb of God.
When we come to the Father, we ask Him to forgive our sin.
When He see we are sorry for our sins, He forgives us and washes
away all our sins with His blood that He shed. Jesus has become
our Savior. Jesus has replaced our guilt and fear with joy and
happiness.
4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to
Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of
David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married
to him and was expecting a child.
6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,
7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and
placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for
them.
8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch
over their flocks at night.
9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone
around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not
be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the
people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the
Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you:You will find a baby wrapped
in cloths and lying in a manger.”
Luke 2:4-12
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel,
praisingGod and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said
to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has
happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was
lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word
concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it
were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up
all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned,
glorifying and praisingGod for all the things they had heard and seen, which
were just as they had been told.
21 On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child, he was
named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he was conceived.
Luke 2:13-21
