AXE-IO is the I/O system for AXE Ericsson switch. It is a platform for Operations , Maintenance
communication applications and secure data storage in fixed and mobile telecommunications networks. It
receives billing data from AXE switch (CP) and manipulates customer bills. It is located in many BSC, MSC and
GSDC throughout the world. AXE-IO project has different subsystems for different purposes like ACS, MCS,
FMS, STS and AES.
Project 1:
Adjunct Computer Subsystem (ACS) - (10th Sep, 2008 to 31st Oct, 2010) This extends Windows 2003
functionality to increase availability, provides common services to platform applications and acts as an
interface between the platform applications and the rest of the AXE system.
ACS consists of: Main Platform Services Support for Function Change
Diagnostics, Automatic Recovery and Alarms Troubleshooting support Clock
synchronization and heartbeat.
Contribution:
My responsibilities were two fold:
- As a designer for new objects:
Involved in design, coding and unit testing.
(Designed and implemented enhancements to existing windows
based application specific services in C/C++, used windows dlls, APIs,
IPCs, sockets, SNMP, TCP/IP, multi threading and client server
architecture)
Building the packages using install shield.
Handling configuration management using clearcase.
- Maintenance of existing systems:
Analysis of trouble reports which are reported at any site throughout
the world.
Reproducing the fault in testing labs or in a simulated environment.
Analyzing the logs to find out the root cause of the problem. Fixing the
problem and performing unit testing.
Project 2:
EVO RAN Controller - (1st Nov, 2010 to 14th Sep, 2012)
EVO Controller uses the same AXE-IO architecture with an improvement in the
hardware and related changes in the software which manages the hardware
related to Evo RAN. Evo RAN is basically, a Radio Access Network (RAN)
solution enabling operators to run GSM, WCDMA and LTE as a single network.
The project in which I was involved is related to the software changes made
due to the introduction of new hardware. It actually is hardware
handling. There were new services designed specifically for handling the
software/framework to be loaded on new hardware boards and their
management.
New boards (hardware) include boards specific for handling protocol and
network traces, some Ericsson boards which will be common for different
applications, specifics boards to interact with the public network.
The EVO Controller consists of: Design of new Platform Services which handle
the hardware Installing/supporting the load modules on different boards
Diagnostics, Automatic Recovery and Alarms Troubleshooting support
Maintaining the hardware
Contribution:
I had three main responsibilities:
- As a Module Leader:
Managing a team of two people.
- As a designer for new modules:
Writing implementation proposals for new modules and requirements from
the customer.
Involving in design, coding and unit testing.
Developed new application specific windows services interacting with
hardware. (windows services are based on C++, GUI for alarm handling for
boards is developed in Java and SNMP is used for network management and
interactions with hardware, also used windoes dlls, IPCs, APIs, socket
programming, multi threading and multi-process handling)
Building the packages using install shield.
- Maintenance activities:
Analyzing the trouble reports which are reported at any site throughout
the world.
Reproducing the fault in testing labs or in a simulated environment.
Analyzing the logs to find out the root cause of the problem.

to 30th April, 2014)
ACS on two different platforms, which extends Windows 2003 in one and
SUSE Linux in the other with functionality to increase availability, provides
common services to platform applications and acts as an interface between the
platform applications and the rest of the AXE system.
Contribution:
My responsibilities were two fold:
-As a Team Leader:
Managing a team of 15 people.
Following Agile methodologies in managing the project.
Managed the product on both Windows and Linux platforms.
-As a Sub-system responsible/Technical coordinator and Scrum master:
Responsible for all release activities from the project.
Responsible for all the technical queries (functional and product level).
Supporting the team technically.
Involved in design approval and lead the review committee for new
implementation proposals and enhancements.
Project 4:
AXE Linux Design (1st May, 2014 to 13th Jan, 2016) As part of Design project,
various applications have been designed on Adjunct Computer Subsystem
(ACS) and Man-machine Communication Subsystem (MCS).
Features related to Ericsson Network Management (ENM) affects on AXE-IO
have been addressed.
Some part of this was also related to Virtualization, starting at OS level.
Test scripts were automated using Java (JCAT).
Contribution:
My responsibilities were two fold:
-As a Team leader and Scrum master:

Following Agile methodologies in managing the project.
Managed the product on Linux platform.
Responsible for all release activities from the project.

Video Interactive Gateway (ViG): ViG is a VOIP solution and it is used as a gateway for telecom networks that
operate between circuit switched and packet switched networks. ViG provides communication between 3G
mobile terminals and H.323 terminals or PC client (e.g. Microsoft Net meeting) and SIP multimedia terminals
and PC client. ViG user services offer the possibility to perform a voice and/or video-call from a 3G mobile user
to any fixed H.323 or SIP user, and vice versa.
Project 1:
Site Keeper (SK): SK is a part of ViG which coordinates call handling for a
geographical point of presence. This includes functions such as accounting,
behavior group analysis, call signaling multiplexing, media restriction, routing
analysis and RAS signaling. Worked on solutions IPT 2.1, ViG 2.0/ViG 2.1/ViG
2.1.1/ViG 3.0
Contribution:
-As a designer
1. Designing of new enhancements and implementation.
a. Port changes in the SK module for communicating with SNMP agents.
b. Increasing Radius buffer size for accounting messages.
c. Suppressing alternate gatekeeper parameter in RCF to MGC.
