- 9. • Data and evidence • Update existing data and produce new data for better monitoring of transformations(markets, prices, HHS, ICBT, Agri surveys, vegetables), New data sources • Shared understanding (agreement on the facts) • Need local economic development approaches (local governments, urban planning) to complement national policies • Business environment, finance, infrastructures, ITC (you can process without energy/electricity; you cannot trade without transport infrastructures) • The complexity of food system transformations means there will be no silver bullet in policymaking. - #2: Thank you. Context/Dynamic of UN Food System Summit - that is catalysing food policy discussions globally and nationally. Present a range of features and characteristics of (West) African food systems that have important implications for efforts to shape more sustainable food systems and design better food policies. Not specific policy recommendations, focusing on one sector or priority, but rather elements that are important for designing better, more coherent food policies overall. They are important in the context of the food system summit, but they are also important beyond 2021
- #3: 1st. Global dimensions and similarities. Food is central in all societies. It defines the way humans interact with each other, connects people with their environment and is the foundation of livelihoods for a large part of humanity. Food systems are also critical in delivering progress on the SDGs – from ending poverty and hunger, to responding to climate change and sustaining our natural resources.

THIS requires policy preparedness (policy tools & governance structures)
