The Bayeux Tapestry depicts the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England in 1066, culminating in the Battle of Hastings. It shows William, Duke of Normandy and Harold Godwinson, Earl of Wessex who became King of England, as they both claim the throne. Though not technically a tapestry, it is embroidered cloth nearly 70 meters long that tells the narrative from the Norman perspective. It provides great historical detail and is displayed in Bayeux, Normandy.
