1. The Good Samaritan: A
Prophetic Timeline for Christ's
Return
A biblical exploration of how this familiar parable may contain hidden clues about
the Lord's return and our preparation for end times.
2. The Parable's Beginning:
Humanity's Fall
Jesus told of a man traveling from Jerusalem (representing the presence of God)
down to Jericho (representing the world).
The Traveler
Represents humanity, created in
God's image but journeying away
from His presence
The Robbers
Represent Satan and his forces,
who attacked mankind, stealing
our divine inheritance
Left Half-Dead
Symbolizes the Fall in Eden - spiritually dead but physically alive, desperately
in need of salvation
3. The Indifference of Religion and Law
Two figures pass by the wounded man, revealing the insufficiency of human systems to save us.
4. The Good Samaritan: Christ
Our Savior
Despised Yet Compassionate
Samaritans were despised by Jews, yet this Samaritan shows divine
compassion - just as Jesus, rejected by His own, came to save us
Binding Wounds with Oil and Wine
The oil represents the Holy Spirit's healing, and the wine represents
Christ's blood shed for our sins
Personal Sacrifice
The Samaritan uses his own resources and interrupts his journey -
reflecting Christ's sacrificial love that spared no expense for our salvation
"But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son..." (Galatians 4:4-5)
5. The Inn and the Innkeeper: The Church Age
After the initial rescue, the wounded man's care continues in a new setting under a new caretaker.
The Inn
Represents the Church, the place of
healing and restoration where believers
receive ongoing care
The Innkeeper
Symbolizes the Holy Spirit, who was
sent to care for believers after Christ's
ascension
"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the
Father will send in my name, he will teach
you all things..." (John 14:26)
Ongoing Care
The continued healing process
represents our sanctification - the
gradual restoration of God's image in us
through the Holy Spirit's work
6. The Two Denarii: A Prophetic Timeline
"Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back." (Luke 10:35)
1
Two Denarii = Two Days' Wages
In Matthew 20:1-16, workers receive one denarius for one
day's work
2 Biblical Day-Year Principle
"With the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand
years as one day" (2 Peter 3:8)
3
Two Thousand Years
The two denarii may prophetically represent 2,000 years
from Christ's first coming until His return
4 Counting from the Cross
If we count these 2,000 years from Christ's crucifixion
(approximately 30-33 AD), we arrive at approximately 2030-
2033
7. The Promise: "I Will Return"
The Good Samaritan's promise to return mirrors Christ's promise to come again.
A Definite Promise
"I will come back" - Jesus repeatedly
promised His return (John 14:3)
A Personal Return
The Samaritan himself would return, not
send another - Christ will personally
return (Acts 1:11)
A Generous Repayment
"Whatever more you spend" - At His
return, Christ will reward faithful service
abundantly (Matthew 25:21)
"Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done." (Revelation 22:12)
8. The Antichrist: Before the King's Return
Just as King Saul (representing human rule) preceded King David
(God's chosen), Scripture indicates the Antichrist will precede
Christ's kingdom.
If Christ returns ~2033
Based on the two denarii timeline
Subtract 7 Years
Daniel's 70th week (the Tribulation period)
Antichrist's Rise: ~2026?
The beginning of the Tribulation period
Important Biblical Warning
"Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not
come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of
lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction..." (2
Thessalonians 2:3)
Scripture indicates specific signs must precede Christ's return,
including:
• Global apostasy (falling away from faith)
• Revelation of the Antichrist figure
• Increasing tribulation and persecution
• The gospel preached to all nations
9. The Rapture: The Church Taken Before
Many Bible scholars believe the Church will be removed before the Antichrist's full reign of terror.
"For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet
of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to
meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord." (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
2 Thessalonians 2:5-8 indicates the restraining force (widely understood as the Holy Spirit working through the Church) must be removed
before the Antichrist can be fully revealed.
If these prophetic interpretations are correct, the Rapture could occur at any moment - perhaps years before the visible return of Christ to
establish His kingdom.
10. Are You Ready?
Just as the wounded man in the parable had no warning before disaster struck, Scripture tells us Christ's return will come suddenly and
unexpectedly.
Examine Your Heart
"Examine yourselves, to see whether
you are in the faith. Test yourselves." (2
Corinthians 13:5)
Have you truly placed your trust in Jesus
as Savior, or merely practiced religious
rituals?
Live in Expectation
"Therefore you also must be ready, for
the Son of Man is coming at an hour you
do not expect." (Matthew 24:44)
Live each day as if Christ could return at
any moment.
Share the Message
"And this gospel of the kingdom will be
proclaimed throughout the whole world
as a testimony to all nations, and then
the end will come." (Matthew 24:14)
Help fulfill Christ's Great Commission
before His return.
