Cloud computing refers to accessing and manipulating hardware and software resources over the internet. The concept originated in the 1960s with John McCarthy's idea of computing as a public utility. Main developments include time-sharing systems in the 1950s, ARPANET in the 1960s-1970s, and virtualization technologies in the 1960s-1990s. Amazon launched cloud services like EC2 and S3 in 2002-2006, making cloud computing commercially available. Major tech companies like Google and Microsoft then entered the market in the late 2000s, helping cloud computing become mainstream.

 The term CLOUD refers to a network
or internet.
In other words, CLOUD is something
which presents at the remote location.

others explored the idea of computing as a public

• 1950s
• In the 50s mainframe computers were huge,
occupying entire rooms. Due to the cost of
buying and maintaining mainframes,
organisations couldn’t afford to purchase one
for each user. The solution was “time sharing”
in which multiple users shared access to data
and CPU time. The term “time sharing” is the
premise of cloud computing.

virtual systems,
• or “Virtual Machines” (VMs) on a single physical node. The VM operating system took
the 50s “time sharing”
• model to the next level and most of the basic functions of any virtualisation software
that you see

• and as the Internet became more accessible, the next logical step
was to take virtualisation online.

knock-on effect to the industry as a whole is a

all joined the stream.This proves that today,
cloud computing has become mainstream.

Abstract: As the IT industry is growing day by day, the need of computing and storage is increasing rapidly. The amount of data exchanged over the network is constantly increasing. Thus the process of this increasing mass of data requires more computer equipment to meet the various needs of the organizations. To better capitalize their investment, the over-equipped organizations open their infrastructures to others by exploiting the Internet and other important technologies such as virtualization by creating a new computing model: the cloud computing. Cloud computing is one of the significant milestones in recent times in the history of computers. The basic concept of cloud computing is to provide a platform for sharing of resources which includes software and infrastructure with the help of virtualization. This paper presents a brief review of cloud computing. The main emphasize of this paper is on the load balancing technique in cloud computing. Every technology has a direct impact with micro-ethical consequences, some good, some bad. However more profound are the ways in which some technologies reshape the very fabric of society with macro-ethical impacts. The invention of the stirrup revolutionised mounted combat, but as a side effect gave rise to the feudal system, which still shapes politics today. The internal combustion engine offers personal freedom and creates pollution, but has also transformed the nature of urban planning and international trade. When we look at AI the micro-ethical issues, such as bias, are most obvious, but the macro-ethical challenges may be greater. At a micro-ethical level AI has the potential to deepen social, ethnic and gender bias, issues I have warned about since the early 1990s! It is also being used increasingly on the battlefield. However, it also offers amazing opportunities in health and educations, as the recent Nobel prizes for the developers of AlphaFold illustrate. More radically, the need to encode ethics acts as a mirror to surface essential ethical problems and conflicts. At the macro-ethical level, by the early 2000s digital technology had already begun to undermine sovereignty (e.g. gambling), market economics (through network effects and emergent monopolies), and the very meaning of money. Modern AI is the child of big data, big computation and ultimately big business, intensifying the inherent tendency of digital technology to concentrate power. AI is already unravelling the fundamentals of the social, political and economic world around us, but this is a world that needs radical reimagining to overcome the global environmental and human challenges that confront us. Our challenge is whether to let the threads fall as they may, or to use them to weave a better future.

The solution was “time sharing” in which multiple users shared access to data and CPU time. The term “time sharing” is the premise of cloud computing.

When these companies deliver services in a way that is reliable and easy to consume, the knock-on effect to the industry as a whole is a wider.and companies like Oracle and HP have all joined the stream.This proves that today, cloud computing has become mainstream.
