Packet analyzers, like Wireshark, have been developed to interpret individual network packets and can perform rudimentary analysis of traffic streams for well-known packet types. Analyzing industrial protocols usually requires much more massaging of the data and in many cases requires a user to do much of the work by hand. This session will present a method to break-down industrial traffic streams into the core components necessary to analyze their performance. By identifying a few key fields in each protocol, a user can define their own method to identify individual traffic streams and analyze their performance.

They bought boxes that blink and software that floods the SOC with alerts. None of this matters as much as how administration is performed: Pop an admin, own the system. Admins are being dragged into a new paradigm where they have to more securely administer the environment. What does this mean for the pentester or Red Teamer?
Admins are gradually using better methods like two-factor and more secure administrative channels. Security is improving at many organizations, often quite rapidly. If we can quickly identify the way that administration is being performed, we can better highlight the flaws in the admin process.
This talk explores some common methods Active Directory administrators (and others) use to protect their admin credentials and the flaws with these approaches. New recon methods will be provided on how to identify if the org uses an AD Red Forest (aka Admin Forest) and what that means for one hired to test the organization's defenses, as well as how to successfully avoid the Red Forest and still be successful on an engagement.
Some of the areas explored in this talk:
Current methods organizations use to administer Active Directory and the weaknesses around them.
Using RODCs in the environment in ways the organization didn't plan for (including persistence).
Exploiting access to agents typically installed on Domain Controllers and other highly privileged systems to run/install code when that's not their typical purpose.

Exploiting Active Directory Administrator InsecuritiesPriyanka Aash "Defenders have been slowly adapting to the new reality: Any organization is a target. They bought boxes that blink and software that floods the SOC with alerts. None of this matters as much as how administration is performed: Pop an admin, own the system. Admins are being dragged into a new paradigm where they have to more securely administer the environment. What does this mean for the pentester or Red Teamer?
Admins are gradually using better methods like two-factor and more secure administrative channels. Security is improving at many organizations, often quite rapidly. If we can quickly identify the way that administration is being performed, we can better highlight the flaws in the admin process.
This talk explores some common methods Active Directory administrators (and others) use to protect their admin credentials and the flaws with these approaches. New recon methods will be provided on how to identify if the org uses an AD Red Forest (aka Admin Forest) and what that means for one hired to test the organization's defenses, as well as how to successfully avoid the Red Forest and still be successful on an engagement.
Some of the areas explored in this talk:
Current methods organizations use to administer Active Directory and the weaknesses around them.
Using RODCs in the environment in ways the organization didn't plan for (including persistence).
Exploiting access to agents typically installed on Domain Controllers and other highly privileged systems to run/install code when that's not their typical purpose.
Discovering and exploiting an AD forest that leverages an AD Admin Forest (aka Red Forest) without touching the Admin Forest.
If you are wondering how to pentest/red team against organizations that are improving their defenses, this talk is for you. If you are a blue team looking for inspiration on effective defenses, this talk is also for you to gain better insight into how you can be attacked."

Improving WordPress Development and Deployments with Docker
Improving WordPress Development and Deployments with DockerBrett Palmer This presentation will discuss how we use Docker to improve our development and deployment of WordPress sites. The presentation describes how themes and plugins can be developed locally and then packaged into a Docker container. A Jenkins pipeline is used with Git to automatically run a build and deploy the new WordPress container onto a test server where automated Selenium scripts are executed. Based on the results of the tests the container is tagged as a production candidate. A deployment pipeline is then used to execute a Blue-Green deployment on the latest update to production. Once the deployment is proven to work through automated testing the router is switched to the new deployment. The overall process helps reduce the risk of production updates to WordPress, themes, and plugins as well as reduce security concerns caused by randomly installing plugins by users. The presentation will also discuss strategies for running a WordPress database both outside and inside of a Docker container. It will discuss the pros and cons of each approach.

We will report how using the Application Jukebox application virtualization solution at the University of New Hampshire has saved time and simplified management of public and department-specific computer labs and our VDI environment. Traditionally, we used a combination of imaging and then various scripted deployments to install applications. With application virtualization, we have been able to move over a hundred Windows applications into virtual packages that can be "installed" by users on demand. We will discuss the general problem of managing large numbers of complex applications across a range of computer environments while also trying to be flexible and responsive to users.

Azure Database for MySQL is a managed database cluster within Microsoft Azure Cloud that runs MySQL community edition. There are really two deployment options: “Single Server” and “Flexible Server (Preview).” We will look at the Flexible Server version, even though it is still preview, because most enterprise applications require failover, so this is the relevant comparison for Tungsten Clustering.

It then covers deploying SSL for cluster communications and for the Tungsten connector. For the cluster, SSL is enabled in tungsten.ini and certificates are generated and distributed. For the connector in proxy mode, MySQL certificates must be imported into keystores and SSL configured from the connector to the database. SSL can also be configured from the application to the connector. Successful SSL encryption is verified using tcpdump and checking the Tungsten connection status. The next steps will cover the Tungsten dashboard.
