• The following Organizations are eligible to
Open a GNM School:
 Central Government/Stat
 Government/Local body
 Registered Private or Public Trust
 Organizations Registered under Societies
Registration Act
 The eligible Organizations should have 100
bedded own Parent Hospital.
 The eligible Organizations should obtain
Essentiality Certificate / No objection
Certificate from the concerned State
Government.
 After obtaining NOC, the eligible
institution should get recognition from the
concerned State Nursing Council
 The Indian Nursing Council would conduct
statutory inspection of the recognized training
nursing institution.

Clinical facilities required for a nursing college
 College of nursing should have a 100
bedded Parent Hospital.
 Average Bed occupancy of the hospital
should be minimum 75%.
 The Nursing Staffing norms in the affiliated
Hospital should be as per the INC norms.
 Maximum distance between college of
nursing and affiliated hospital should be
15-30 kms. But it can be up to 30-50 kms
for tribal and hilly areas.
 1:3 student patient ratio to be maintained.
 For the sanctioning of 100 seats minimum
300 bedded Parent Hospital is mandatory.
