Viral Marketing
Viral MarketingThe term ‘Viral Marketing’ describes any technique of advertising using the internet. This could include social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Myspace.
Examples of Viral Marketing...The marketing campaign for the 2008 film The Dark Knight combined both online and real-life elements to make it resemble an alternate reality game. Advertising techniques included gatherings of Joker fans, scavenger hunts around world. Detailed websites that let fans choose by "voting" for the political offices in Gotham City, and even a Gotham News Network. The movie also markets heavily off of word of mouth from the thousands of Batman fans.
...Blair witch project was one of the first movie’s which used viral marketing. They did this as they printed articles in magazines and newspapers about people disappearing this created a buzz around the movie’s first screening. They also had computer games which were done within groups and each stage was from different groups. Also there was a fan base as there were a series of books under the Blair Witch Project.
Our Product- Viral MarketingOur finished product could use viral marketing, as it has the benefit of our target audience being 15; many 15 year olds and older use social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Through viral marketing if our media text was a full media text we would then see that having a sneak preview of our movie would start a buzz and our target audience would know about the main product.
The viral marketing technique we are planning to use is the social networking site, Facebook as we would be able to generate feedback and this would benefit our product as the target audience age are more likely to be on Facebook.
