Viral Marketing

Viral marketing is a marketing technique that uses existing social networks to spread a marketing message through self-replicating viral processes, analogous to the spread of a virus. It aims to exponentially increase brand awareness through self-replicating viral processes, using e-mail, social media, blogs, and other platforms. While it has the advantages of low costs and extensive reach, it also risks brand dilution if not implemented carefully with a focus on entertainment over the brand. The goals of viral marketing include increasing sales, customer satisfaction, loyalty and brand awareness.
