Planning for software quality assurance lecture 6Abdul Basit
The document discusses planning for software quality assurance (SQA) and outlines the key elements of a software quality assurance plan (SQAP). It notes that an SQAP provides a roadmap for SQA activities and defines techniques, procedures, and methodologies that will be used to ensure timely delivery of software that meets requirements. The document then describes various sections that should be included in an SQAP, such as goals, tasks, standards, reviews, testing, problem reporting, tools, code control, and training. It also discusses the IEEE standard for SQAPs and provides examples of what types of information should be included in each SQAP section.
Business Intelligence and Business Analyticssnehal_152
Business intelligence (BI) involves gathering, storing, and analyzing data to help organizations make better business decisions. It provides a single point of access to timely information to answer business questions. BI tools like dashboards, key performance indicators, graphical reporting, and forecasting help companies adapt quickly to changing customer preferences and market conditions. Implementing an effective BI system removes guesswork from decision making and allows for fact-based decisions through accurate, real-time data.

Describing the Organisation Data LandscapeAlan McSweeney
Outlines an Approach to Describing the Organisation Data Landscape to Assist with Data Transformation Analysis and Planning
The Data Landscape is a representation of the organisation’s data entities and their relationships, interfaces and data flows. Data entities are data asset components that perform data-related functions, from data storage to data transfer and data processing within the Data Landscape.
The objective of developing a Data Landscape model is to define an approach for formally and exactly defining the operation and use of data at a high-level within the organisation and to plan for future changes. It allows the enterprise data fabric to be defined and modelled.
Creating a data landscape view is important as data underpins the operation of information technology solutions and business processes. Data breathes life into solutions as its flows through the organisation. The optimum and most cost-effective design of the data landscape is therefore important. Similarly, solutions that are developed or acquired and deployed on the data landscape
The nature of the organisation data landscape is changing as organisations are undergoing a data transformation.
This document summarizes key aspects of quality management and software engineering based on a textbook. It discusses definitions of software quality, types of quality (design and conformance), the costs of quality, software quality assurance techniques like reviews and inspections, roles of a software quality assurance group, metrics for reviews, standards like ISO 9001, change management, software configuration management, and baselines.
Building an Effective Data Warehouse ArchitectureJames Serra
Why use a data warehouse? What is the best methodology to use when creating a data warehouse? Should I use a normalized or dimensional approach? What is the difference between the Kimball and Inmon methodologies? Does the new Tabular model in SQL Server 2012 change things? What is the difference between a data warehouse and a data mart? Is there hardware that is optimized for a data warehouse? What if I have a ton of data? During this session James will help you to answer these questions.
This document discusses data integration and transformation. It defines data integration as combining data from multiple sources into a coherent data store, such as a data warehouse. There are two major approaches for data integration: tight coupling, where data is combined from sources into a single location through ETL; and loose coupling, where an interface queries source databases directly. Data transformation prepares data for mining through techniques like smoothing, aggregation, generalization, normalization and attribute construction. Normalization techniques discussed include min-max, z-score, and decimal scaling normalization.
