Life And Dedication Of An Organization
As I peered through the window of opportunity, which I thought would be an easy adventure, time and
dedication surely proved me mistaken. One average senior high day, I walk into the Human Services
classroom and sit down at my desk. The class writes the daily five minute prompt about the service we
are hoping to be involved in for FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America) called,
STAR (Student Taking Action with Recognition) events. After the prompt, the class sets up the desks
to have our monthly FCCLA meeting. I, being the President, began the meeting with any house
keepings that needs to be discussed. Next, we progress the discussion to our chapter s current funds
and finally begin to go into detail about STAR events. In an organized manner, we list the events and
information pertaining to which people are planning on working in each group.
I decide to work with Angela, who happens to be our chapter s Vice President, and Molly, the
secretary, to focus our attention to the Focus on Children category. With much thought, we decide on
the idea of researching the sugar content in beverages and directing the information toward late
elementary audiences. We create a few presentations and visuals to provide the students an accurate
idea of the sugar content within their drinks. While constructing this project, we also call at least five
of the elementary schools in the area. One of the schools responds and we are able to coordinate a few

In the short story An Offering of Rice , by Mavis Hara, the protagonist s father, Otosan, encounters
various indirect conflicts with his family while trying to survive with them inside a dirty, cramped
house in a poor neighborhood in Hawaii. Otosan s traditional beliefs sometimes spread through the
family, causing backlash and bitterness. He struggles to understand how education is more important
than money, and because he is a meaner character in the story, he harshly disciplines Kei, who had felt
the belt before (2), and yells at Nii san, who is trying to argue that one more year of education will
earn more money for the family. Otosan responds by saying men have to work (2). This quote
signifies how Otosan sees on a need to have basis and how his biggest concern is for control of the

Nazism in America Probably one of the most infamous political groups in history were the Nazis, a
party created and lead by Hitler, an equally awful man. The Nazi party was based in Germany, and
many Germans had fallen prey to their deception through their immoral methods, but it was a true
surprise when Americans started to become ensnared by their deceit as well. After WWI, Germany
was in ruins; so many Germans immigrated to the US. Some of these immigrants fit in quite well into
American society and carried on to be loyal citizens. However some were very hostile to assimilate
into society, those who were humiliated and scared by Germany s economy and of the backlash of the
war, yet still stuck to their pride to an extreme. People like this created Nazi sympathizing parties in
the US, such as the American Bund. The American Bund, lead by Fritz Kuhn a chemical engineer
from Munich dubbed the American fuehrer by the press, originally called the Friends of New
Germany (reorganized in 1936 due to friction between Germany and the US), tried to cultivate Nazi
culture in America after Hitler came to power in Germany in January of 1933 due to their devotion to

Undoubtedly Races The animal imagery used in Maus, by Art Spiegelman, is the first thing you notice
about this book. It is, if not, the most important theme and factor centered around Maus graphic
novels. By looking at the cover, we can see that the book is about issues during the Holocaust but
Spiegelman deals with these issues in a different way. As we look deeper into the story we begin to
notice that Spiegelman isn t just choosing animals he likes and placing them in the plot. There is a
wide selection of animals Spiegelman has chosen to represent his set of characters, giving the novel a

In Maus, Jews are rarely seen socializing with other animals revealing the system of classification or
how other races interacted and viewed status. The Jews kept to themselves and welcome people of
their kind. This is shown when Vladek was immediately accepted into the Zylderbergs, or Anja s
family, home with full trust. They were willing to welcome Vladek into their home without them
getting to know him, due to being a mouse (Spiegelman 21 Panel 1). It was undeniable that the Jews
were also capable of being racist. They were known to only trust their own kind and this is shown in
multiple instances. In Maus II, Artie, his wife Francoise, and Vladek encounter a hitchhiker on their
way home from the store (Spiegelman 258 Panel 7). Vladek is cruel and hesitate about taking the
hitchhiker because he was black. Furious, Francoise called him out as a hypocrite by stereotyping
African Americans and after calling the man a shvartser . Vladek wasn t able to see the connection do
to his stubborn nature. Another predicament where race a major factor was in the beginning of book
two when Artie was confused on what animal he should make Francoise (Spiegelman 171 Panel 3).

Cambridge mass the city of chance, opportunity, diversity and most importantly basketball. Growing
up as child in Cambridge all you hear is stories about basketball and the great tradition, reputation we
have built to become the model of a winning basketball, program over decades that seamlessly trout
out great teams contending for the right to be named state champions every year. This tradition is
passed on to each generation of kids in Cambridge very young because most likely my father your
father once wore the falcon jersey over his chest or if we go way back in the 90 s those teams wore the

Another purpose to having a partnership is that with partners, your business will have a greater

At any given moment, there are people around the world suffering and dying due to severe poverty.
According to Peter Singer, there is much more that we can do to help create a better life for these
people. He makes the obvious statement, in which most people agree with, that suffering and death
due to poverty are very bad. His second idea is that if we are able to prevent that from happening
