Buckingham Palace is the official residence of the Queen in London. It was originally built as a private home in 1703 but was purchased by King George III in 1761 to serve as a royal residence. Today, Queen Elizabeth II and other members of the royal family live in some of the palace's 775 rooms. Each day there is a Changing of the Guard ceremony outside the palace where soldiers parade and a band plays for around 45 minutes, which is one of London's major attractions for tourists. The palace also has various facilities like a post office, cinema, swimming pool, and jewelry workshop within its 108 meter structure.
