Digital Writing In a traditional classroom, students have written essays and term papers in a framework designated for research and critical thinking Writing on the Web equates to new possibilities for thinking and assessment Data Images Sounds Videos Website: http://www.tltgroup.org/resources/GX/Outcome1.htm
How do you do it? Teachers use documents such as Microsoft Word in order to have student’s complete their assignments Look for this image for Microsoft Word
Teacher Tube If you have access to the internet in your classroom then you need to check this out This is used for teaching students and interacting your lessons with video clips. Kids love movies! Use this website to mix your lessons with something fun! www.teachertube.com
SMART Boards Teachers around the world are using SMART boards in their classroom. It’s an interactive whiteboard that lets you deliver your lessons Write notes in digital ink All with the simple touch of a finger! http://smarttech.com/
Digital Cameras in the Classroom Why should we use them? Using the camera will assist students be involved with the subject Great for cognitive development because students will need a plan and reason of what pictures to take. It’s convenient! You don’t have to wait to get the photos printed, you just quickly upload them onto your computer! http://www.wacona.com/digicam/digicam.html
Digital Photos How do I apply them into my lessons? It’s easy! There are many ways to use digital photos, you can create scavenger hunts inside the classroom so you know your students understand the lesson Take pictures of school events and have them apply them with their lesson. Create fun projects and have a blast!
PowerPoint Microsoft PowerPoint is a great way to present new information to the class It contains Images Information Videos And animation PowerPoint can be used in teacher and student presentations
What it’s Used For It’s as easy as 1…2…3… It’s used in businesses to present new information and products and can be used in the classroom for the same reasons Another way of using PowerPoint in your classroom is having the student’s create a presentation and present their knowledge like a professional.
Excel Microsoft Excel is also used in many businesses and in presentations It’s a great way to use graphs, charts, and organize information Numbers Mathematical Equations Taking Role Inputting Grades
Not just for Teachers…. Why limit students to organizing information on paper when Excel already has columns and rows ready?
Digital Video Why stop at digital cameras? Another productive way in challenging students, is having them create a story using digital cameras. Give students enough time to brainstorm the topic in order for them to create a story line.
Why is THIS Important? Webquest If you know how to use Word, PowerPoint, or Excel, then you are more likely capable of using web quest Web quests requires more than just summarizing it includes Synthesis Analysis Problem-solving Creativity Judgment
Web quest in the Classroom Web quests makes good use of the web. This isn’t a research report nor is it a step by step math or science equation This is where student’s can interact with each other and edit their information. A great way for teachers to also check student’s work and edit them as they go along.
Twitter We are at that time where social media is the new way of communicating We update our status’s and following people on twitter. Most student’s tend to have a twitter page so they are able to follow their friends or even their favorite celebrities But, how about following their teachers?
