Assignment # 1

Course: EECE 1312 Semester II 2015/2016 Total Marks 20

Question # 1

i. Describe the working principal of half wave and full wave rectification.
Support your answer with suitable waveform along with phase angle.

ii. Discuss a characteristic curve of Zener diode with forward and reverse region.

iii. Drive the voltage output expression of summing and integrator operational
amplifier, also include circuit diagram.

Question # 2
Design a Zener diode voltage regulator circuit as shown in Figure.1 Consider voltage
regulator is used to power a mobile phone at 3 V from the lithium ion battery, which
voltage may vary between 3.2 V and 3.8 V. The current in the mobile phone will
vary 0 (off) to 150 mA .

Question # 3
Calculate the voltage gain and output voltage VO of the operational amplifier circuit
as shown below.

Question # 4
The output voltage of the non-inverting op-amp circuit shown below is 9.5V.
Determine the value of the resistor R1.
Question # 5
The circuit shown below has 3 identical diodes, Is =10-12 A for each of them.
i. Assume that the switch S is opened. Find the value of the current I
required to obtain an output voltage vo = 3V. How much current will
flow in RL ?
ii. Assume that the switch S is closed. Find the value of the output voltage
vo if you know that the current I=1.8mA and the current flowing in RL
is 1.5mA.
