Object Integration

Contents of this chapter

This chapter instructs how to configure zenon objects, e.g. drive parameters, using the
Object Integration Wizard.

Configuring a new object

The Object Integration Wizard can be used to create object models and their instances
which are ready to communicate through predefined drivers. You can also define and create
object visualization (faceplate) on zenon screens.
To open the Object Integration Wizard,
1. In the zenon Editor window, go to Tools → Start Editor wizards...
2. In the Wizards window, go to ABB → Object Integration Wizard. Click OK.
8 Object Integration

3. Proceed with configuring the object in the Object Integration Wizard. See Welcome
tab (on page 9) and description of other tabs in sections below.
Object Integration 9

■ Welcome tab
In the Welcome window, read information about basic settings. Proceed with File import
tab.

Hint

Click the ? (Help ) button at top-right corner, to open the Object Integration Manual.
10 Object Integration

■ File import tab

In the File import window, do the following configurations:
1. Select a Target project to create objects.
Note: Only activated projects and projects in the memory can be selected.
2. Click Import ODF and select the appropriate predefined object definition file(s) (.ODF).

Hint

Default ODF file path: C:\ProgramData\ABB\zenon800\ABB Add-ons\Device

Object\Object Library

The selected ODFs are loaded. Check the status messages in the bottom of the window.
3. Proceed with Visualization tab.
Object Integration 11

■ Visualization tab
In the Visualization window,
1. Click Add and select a predefined object type, e.g. ACS800.
2. The object Subtype if exists loads automatically. Define a object model name.
3. If you selected the object row for example Drive1, only that object will appear in the
Visualization selection.
4. Click on the visualization object to preview the faceplate of the selected object.

Information

The object appears in the visualization selection only if the object elements are
predefined and the files are placed in this path:
C:\ProgramData\ABB\zenon800\ABB Add-ons\Device Object\Visualization. For
more information, contact zenon support or your local representative.

5. Proceed with Modelling tab.

12 Object Integration

■ Modelling tab
The Modelling window shows predefined object models for the object type that is defined
in the Visualization tab. In this window proceed with configuring the object instances, for
example, ACS880 drive.
1. In Parameter Selection, check the required parameters that you prefer to create as
objects in zenon.
2. In Object Instances, define the number of object instances and a name prefix. Click
Add to add the instances.
The defined number of instances is added prefixed with the defined name.

Information

If you prefer to delete instance(s), click on the left of the specific instance name.
When a Blue highlight appears, click Remove.

3. Proceed with Instantiation tab.

Object Integration 13

■ Instantiation tab
The Instantiation window shows the defined object instances. In this window, proceed to
select communication drivers for each instance and select a screen or create a screen to
display the visualization of selected object instance(s).
1. In column Driver, select the appropriate communication driver name for each instance.

Hint

You can create a new driver name for the supported drivers with Driver
Creation.

Information

MODRTU32 (Modbus) driver supports ACS800 and ACS880 drives

Consider the following settings:

• ACS800 drive: If the object instance is a ACS800 drive parameter, you must
configure NETA-21 for Modbus connection. See instructions Configuring NETA-21
for Modbus connection (on page 16) . You must also follow the Modbus and Node
ID configurations listed below.
• MODRTU32 (Modbus) configuration:If Modbus is used, in Settings, select TCP/IP
connection and activate Offset 1 and Skip not existing registers. Change also
the Maximum block size to e.g. 125.
14 Object Integration

• Node ID: If Node ID is used, in TCP/IP tab, make sure that Net address is set same
as Node ID. Enter suitable connection name, appropriate IP address and Remote
Object Integration 15

port. Click Ping to check the connection and then click OKto create the driver
configuration.

2. Back in the Instantiation window, in column Net address, set the same value as in the
driver settings.
3. In column Screen, select a screen where the object visualization should be displayed.

Hint

You can create a new screen in the Instantiation tab itself in Screen creation.
16 Object Integration

4. Proceed to Finish tab.

Configuring NETA-21 for Modbus connection

The ACS800 drive communicates with zenon using MODRTU32 (Modbus) connection via
NETA-21. For instructions on Mechanical and electrical installation of NETA-21, and First
access to the NETA-21 remote monitoring tool, see NETA-21 remote monitoring tool
Installation and start-up guide [3AUA0000096881].. After you successfully logged to the
NETA-21 remote monitoring tool, proceed with below steps:
1. Login to NETA-21 remote monitoring tool.
2. In the Navigation Home screen, go to Settings → Network services.

3. Check the appropriate ModubusTCP gateway Interface, E.g. ETH1. See in above figure.
4. In the Navigation Home screen, go to Settings → Device interfaces → Modbus
TCP/Gateway and select a Device Name.
Object Integration 17

5. In Device parameters, do the following settings:

• In Read-write flag, select appropriate option, e.g. Read-only.
• In Read-write access IP address, enter the IP address of your zenon PC.
• In Read-write access netmask, enter the appropriate subnet mask value.
6. Click Apply changes.
18 Object Integration

■ Finish tab
1. In the Finish window, click Finish at the bottom right, to complete the wizard configuration
and to load the new object.
2. Wait while the object installation is in progress. You can also read the status messages.

3. When the object related elements are successfully installed, click Done.

Information

Messages in the Finish window are displayed in different colors, based on the
element installation:
• Green: indicates success
• Orange: indicates a warning
• Red: indicates an error

4. Click Close to close the wizard window.
