I. GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

II. INFORMATION ABOUT THE COURSE

C OURSE DESCRIPTION

This is a three unit course that deals with the different methodologies, techniques and trends in teaching
music in the classroom. This includes selection and development of music materials in teaching.

C OURSE G OALS
At the end of the course, the students are expected to have:
 Critically analysed various approaches and methodologies in music education;
 Effectively demonstrated the ability to identify level-appropriate content, activities and approaches;
 Efficaciously Used critical thinking skills in reading, analysis and curriculum planning;
 Successfully presented in a teaching demonstration the application of any approach or methodology
including the application of technology in music education;
 Positively integrated the Adventist philosophy of music education in all class work.

C OURSE REQUIREMENTS
The students are required to:
 Attend all classes regularly and on time;

 Pass quizzes, tests and examinations;
 Discuss readings of articles in music teaching methods and approaches;
 Submit 10 critique papers of articles read;
 Present a teaching demonstration using any music methodology;
 Submit a collection of materials for music teaching; and
 Attend at least one off-campus seminar on music education methods.
