I. RATIONALE:
Republic Act No. 11206 otherwise known as the Secondary Career Guidance and
Counseling Act of 2019 aims to a) to institutionalize a career guidance and counseling
program for students in all public and private secondary schools nationwide in order to
provide them proper direction in pursuing subsequent tertiary education;(b) to equip
secondary education students with the capability to make educated career decisions and
expose them to relevant labor markets; and (c) to ensure graduates of tertiary education meet
the requirements of the government, industry, and the economy. The Implementing Rules and
Regulations of the Basic Education Act of 2013 Rule V states that the Department of
Education (DepEd) is mandated to properly guide the secondary level students in choosing
career tracks that they intend to pursue through informed career choices towards becoming
productive and contributing individuals. Through the spirit of the implementation of R.A. 10533
or the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013, and as stated in the D.O. No. 35 s. 2016 that
Department of Education will fully supports the continuing professional development of its
teaching personnel on the principle of lifelong learning and it is so clear that the commitment
of this department is for the development of teachers’ potential aimed towards their success
in the profession.
The Department of Education (DepEd) issues the Career Guidance Program (CGP)
for School Year 2022-2023 which aims to establish guidelines and procedures for its
implementation. The CGP aims to guide secondary level students in choosing career tracks
that they intend to pursue through informed career choices towards becoming productive and
contributing individuals as stated in RA 10533 otherwise known as the Basic Education Act of
2013. This document shall guide all stakeholders in planning, implementing, monitoring, and
evaluating the CGP for S.Y. 2021- 2022. Memorandum No. 00-0520-0030 s. 2020 from the
Office of the Undersecretary for Administration (OUA), issued in May 2020, and the Joint
Memorandum issued on September 21, 2020 by the OUA, the Office of the Undersecretary
for Curriculum and Instruction (OUCI), and the Office of the Undersecretary for Field
Operations (OUFO) on the Announcement of the Transfer of Management and Supervision of
the Career Guidance Program to Curriculum and Instruction Strand, hence, the issuance of
the Career Guidance Program (CGP) for S.Y. 2021-2022. This shall be implemented in all
public elementary and secondary schools nationwide for S.Y. 2021-2022. Immediate
dissemination of and strict compliance with this Memorandum is directed.
Colon National High School is committed to helping its students grow by giving them
the tools they need to not only discover and develop their unique set of skills, interests, and
talents, but also by helping them become critically aware of and insightful about any and all
external factors that could influence the decisions they make about their own futures.

A.5. Activity Rationale:

The purpose of career guidance is to explore and develop the potential of


individuals, and to do so, informed career choices must be made in the student’s life.
Students need career guidance to explore and plan for future career endeavors based on
their individual interests, skills, and values. Participation in career guidance enhances the
linkage of academic and career experiences and thus improves career preparation and
management. Guidance service is a service provided to students at Colon National High
School in order to help them maximize their potential.

A.6. Objective:
Terminal Objective:
The goal of career counseling is to explore and develop individuals' potentials in order
to inform career decisions that must be made in the student's life.

Enabling Objectives: The conduct of Facilitation of Psychosocial Support (PSS)


Activity aims to:
 To aid in the process of future and career planning, as well as the selection,
preparation, and entry into a specific occupation and
 To assist individuals in making decisions and choices related to future planning
and career development, as well as choosing an occupation, preparing for it, and
entering it.

and building their career.

A.6. Methodology:
This activity will be completed in four sessions of all Grade 9 to Grade 12 students
within two days, and every session will be attended by grade level (Grade 9, Grade 10,
Grade 11, and Grade 12) for a total of sixteen hours. It will begin with the preliminaries,
such as registration and program time, and will be followed by the statement of purpose by
the Training Facilitators, Lolita M. Reynolds, the Testing Coordinator of Junior High School
and Ellen C. Wahani, the Designate Guidance Counselor. Then, administer the RIASEC
Test to Grade 9 Students. Morning session will be started at 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and
the afternoon session starts at 1:00 pm. to 4:00 pm. A different activity/workshop will be
used by the resource speakers that are suited for certain Grade level.
The topics to be discussed for Grade 9 level is Holland’s Theory will discuss by Lolita
M. Reynolds followed by a RIASEC Test to be administered by Louie Vic Albarina; for
Grade 10 Ellen Wahani will discuss Embarking on a Journey of Self-Awareness followed by
the workshop; Grade 11 topics are Road to the Right Choice and Rising to the Reality of
My dreams by Ace Fernando; and Grade 12 is Entering the Exit and Costume Parade to be
intimated by April Masa Gafa and Lolita M. Reynolds.
Since Grade 9 -12 advisers/teachers will not able to attend the class on the above-
mentioned date, all Class Advisers will provide an activity for the other subject loads.
