Pre Lesson ( 10 minutes)

Worksheet Activities:

1) Pupils are asked to recall- what is present simple for and what is
present continuous for?

2) Revision of Rules: Pupils will study two tables outlining the rules for
Present Simple and Present Continuous.

3) Time Expressions: Pupils will identify time expressions commonly used

with each tense.

Lesson Delivery (40 minutes)

STAGE 1

4) Pupils are asked to write four sentences about themselves, their family,
or friends. Two should be true and two should be false.

5) The teacher models this activity by sharing two sentences about

themselves and asking pupils to guess which is true and which is false.

6) Pupils then exchange sentences with partners and guess which are true
and which are false.

7) Pupils receive images and answer questions about the people in the
pictures. Creativity is encouraged; pupils can talk about what they see and
invent additional details.

STAGE 2

8) Pupils will read questions and decide if they are in the correct tense. If
incorrect, they will change the tense. Discussions will follow based on
these questions.

9) Next, pupils will play a game in which they ask and answer questions
using both tenses. The accuracy of their sentences and questions will be
reviewed.

 Student A will choose a card with a verb and toss a coin: heads for
Present Simple, tails for Present Continuous.
 Student A will ask a question based on the result. For example, if
they get tails and choose the verb ‘work,’ they might ask, "What
project are you working on now in your job?"
 Student B will answer the question and then ask a question using
the same verb but in the Present Simple.
 Roles will switch after each round.
Post Lesson ( 10 minutes):

10) A summary of the main points regarding the use of Present Simple
and Present Continuous will be provided.

11) Pupils are asked to give one example of the time expressions
associated with each tense. Pupisl are also asked to utter 1-2 sentences
using either of the tenses
