Activate students’ prior knowledge by asking the following questions.

ACTIVITY:

TASK 2: Grammatical or Not Grammatical? (7 minutes)


Group the students into 5.
Let the students determine whether the statement is grammatical or not.
Use Car Racing Game in this task.

Instructions: Raise the GREEN FLAG if you believe that the statement is grammatical and
raise the RED FLAG if you believe it is not.

1. Reading books, watching TV, and playing billiards are my hobbies.


2. Shenna loves cooking, to bike, and to planting.
3. My friends are intelligent, pretty, and loving.
4. Fe is smart and wise, but irresponsibility.
5. My mother allowed me to go to the mall, bought new shoes, and watching a movie.
6. To graduate, to find a job, and to build my own house are my dreams in life.

ANALYSIS:

Lead the probing of the previous task by asking the following questions.

3. How can you make a sentence with series of words grammatically correct?

KEY CONCEPTS
 Parallel Structure is the repetition of a chosen grammatical form within a
sentence. By making each word in the series follow the same grammatical
pattern, parallel structure is created.
 A series is a group of words of similar kind listed in succession.
 For a sentence to be grammatically correct, the series of words must
observe parallel structure.

APPLICATION:

TASK 8: We’re A Team! (20 minutes)

Instructions: Determine whether the sentence observes parallel structure or not. Write PS
for parallel structure and NPS for not parallel structure.
