What is Network ?
 A network consists of two or more computers that
are linked in order to share resources (such as
printers and CDs), exchange files, or allow
electronic communications.

 The computers on a network may be linked

through cables, telephone lines, radio waves,
satellites, or infrared light beams.
What is Internet ?
 The Internet is a global wide area network that
connects computer systems across the world. It
includes several high-bandwidth data lines that
comprise the Internet "backbone." These lines are
connected to major Internet hubs that distribute data
to other locations, such as web servers and ISPs.

 Most ISPs offer broadband Internet access via

a cable, DSL, or fiber connection. When you
connect to the Internet using a public Wi-Fi
signal, the Wi-Fi router is still connected to an
ISP that provides Internet access.
Networking in IoT
The IoT devices will most definitely need
connectivity to the controllers that will be
controlling the devices. The connectivity to
the network could be wired or wireless.
There are several protocol options in this
space like zigbee, bluetooth, z-wave,
6LowPAN, WiFi, Cellular, NFC, Sigfix etc.
The network will need to evolve to support
these protocols that are common in the IoT
world.
Networking in Hacking
If you want to be a script kiddie who watches
YouTube tutorials and uses pre existing tools to
hack into vulnerable systems, then not so much.
If you want to be a REAL hacker who can write
their own payloads and discover system
vulnerabilities themselves, then you need to know
A LOT of NETWORKING and NETWORK
SECURITY theory.
