Lesson Plan: Daily Routines and Habits

1. Warm-Up (10 minutes)

 Activity: Greetings and a quick discussion.


 Question: "What time do you usually wake up?"
 Objective: To get students thinking about their daily routines.

2. Vocabulary Introduction (15 minutes)

 Topic: Morning routines and daily activities


 Vocabulary List:
o Wake up
o Get up
o Brush teeth
o Take a shower
o Get dressed
o Have breakfast
o Go to work/school
o Have lunch
o Come home
o Have dinner
o Watch TV
o Go to bed
 Activity: Flashcards or a slideshow presentation of the vocabulary.
 Practice: Repeat after the teacher and match images to words.

3. Grammar Focus (20 minutes)

 Topic: Present Simple Tense


 Explanation:
o Usage: Regular actions or habits.
o Form:
 Affirmative: I/You/We/They wake up at 7 AM. He/She wakes up at 7 AM.
 Negative: I/You/We/They do not (don’t) wake up at 7 AM. He/She does not
(doesn’t) wake up at 7 AM.
 Questions: Do you/we/they wake up at 7 AM? Does he/she wake up at 7
AM?
 Activity: Fill-in-the-blank exercises and sentence transformation (affirmative to
negative/questions).

4. Speaking Practice (20 minutes)


 Activity 1: Pair Work
o Students ask and answer questions about their daily routines using the present simple
tense.
o Example questions: "What time do you wake up?", "Do you have breakfast every
day?"
 Activity 2: Describing a Typical Day
o Students take turns describing their daily routines to a partner or in small groups.
o Encourage the use of sequence words: First, then, after that, finally.
o Example: "First, I wake up at 7 AM. Then, I brush my teeth and take a shower..."

5. Listening Activity (15 minutes)

 Activity: Listen to a short recording of someone describing their daily routine.


 Task: Students take notes and answer comprehension questions.

6. Writing Activity (15 minutes)

 Task: Write a short paragraph describing your typical day using the vocabulary and
grammar from the lesson.
 Guidelines: Use sequence words and ensure proper use of the present simple tense.

7. Review and Homework (10 minutes)

 Review: Quick recap of vocabulary and grammar points.


 Homework: Write a detailed description of your daily routine and be prepared to present it
in the next class.
